Editorial Standards
What every HomeFixCompass guide must do before it can be published.
People first, always
Each guide starts from a real observed homeowner problem — not a keyword. The core answer appears near the top. One page serves one search intent; near-identical variations are merged, never split into competing pages.
How AI is used — and its limits
We may use AI tools for keyword grouping, outlines, source organization, draft assistance, formatting, and QA checks. AI is never an authority source: every factual claim is verified by a human against authoritative sources before publishing. We never ship AI hallucinations, invented model numbers, prices, codes, citations, or credentials, and we never bulk-publish without per-article review.
Honest authorship
Guides are produced by theHomeFixCompass Editorial Team. A real named author appears only when that person genuinely wrote or reviewed the work, and a "reviewed by" line appears only after a real, dated subject review. We invent no licenses, certifications, years of experience, or employment history.
Safety boundaries
Every guide states what a homeowner may safely check and exactly when to stop. Live electrical work, capacitors, refrigerant handling, gas-related work, and bypassing safety devices are always deferred to licensed professionals. Reading a guide never qualifies anyone to perform high-risk work.
Original, verified, right-sized
Guides must add reasoning, structure, or comparison beyond restating sources — see how we research. Length follows the topic; we set no word-count targets and pad nothing.
Corrections
Errors get fixed and disclosed under ourcorrections policy, with the article's updated date changing only when the substance changed.
